Team Arctic cross-country racers rang in the new year with an overwhelming display of strength to capture 14 wins in 21 classes and 44 out 63 podium finishes at the USXC season opener on Pine Lake in Gonvick, Minn. Competing with the 2016 ZR 6000R XC and ZR 4000RR snowmobils, Team Green once again proved their handling, speed and durability were second to none in top level cross-country competition.

The highlight win of the weekend came in the 100-mile No-Bull Triple Crown Enduro 600, where the Team Arctic/Christian Brothers Racing duo of Zach Herfindahl and Wes Selby delivered an overpowering win aboard their Soo 500 mod sled with the Speedwerx modified C-TEC2 600 Arctic Cat engine. Team Arctic racers also captured five of the top-10 Pro 600 class positions.

Lance Efteland picked up where he left off last season in the Semi Pro classes, taking two first place finishes. Dustin Schwandt captured the Sport 600 class while Hunter Houle and Ean Voight gave a preview of what’s to come in the Expert 85 classes as each racer claimed a first and second respectively.

Team Arctic dominated the support classes, with Jordan Bute, Garet Grzadzielewski, Ryan Weidemann, Lydia Sobek and Paul Brown capturing class wins. And Karl Valtinson and Jesse Watland kept the Classic IFS and Vintage spirit alive by taking victory in their classes.

“We’re really pleased with the awesome performance of our drivers and crew, as well as our ZR series snowmobiles,” said Mike Kloety, Team Arctic Race Manager. “We swept the podium in seven classes; captured the most wins and podium positions; and won the prestigious Enduro 600 final. It was an excellent result for the first cross-country of the season and something we’ll build upon as we head into the ditches for the upcoming races.”

The next USXC cross-country race is Jan. 9-10 in Devil’s Lake, ND. Visit www.usxcracing.com for more cross-country snowmobile racing news as well as the Team Arctic website: http://www.arcticcat.com/teamarctic/

CHECKERED FLAGS KEEP WAVING FOR TEAM ARCTIC’S SNOCROSS AND CROSS-COUNTRY RACERS

The checkered flag of victory continued to wave for Team Arctic cross-country and snocross racers, who combined to take 44 first-place finishes during a weekend of terrain competition.

Team Green remains the undisputed king of cross-country, and their performance at the USXC Thief River Falls 300 reinforced the fact with 17 of 21 class wins, 40 of 63 podium placing’s (including seven podium sweeps). Wes Selby continued his victory parade by winning the hard-fought Pro Stock class. Team Arctic captured six of the top-10 positions, with Cody Kallock, Timmy Kallock, Chad Lian, Jordan Torgerson and Ryan Trout earning the honors.

Other Thief River Falls 300 class winners include Timmy Kallock, Jeremy Grove, Jon Arneson, Matt Feil, Jolene Bute, Brandon Wolter, Ean Voigt, David Brown, Savannah Landrus, Karl Mattison, James Mattison, Mike Mattison and Gerry Mattison.

Team Arctic showed its depth and resolve by scoring four wins at the ISOC snocross national in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. Tucker Hibbert led the way with a win in Pro Open, while Logan Christian maintained his torrid pace to score another podium.

FIFTEEN CLASS WINS IN WILLMAR FOR TEAM ARCTIC CROSS-COUNTRY

Team Arctic racers delivered another powerful performance at the third round of the USXC cross-country series in Willmar, Minn., winning 13 classes and capturing 39 out of 60 podium positions.

Team Arctic/Christian Brothers Racing Pro Brian Dick once again topped the premier category, winning the Pro Open class and finishing second in Pro Stock. Teammate Zach Herfindahl took third in the Open while Wes Selby finished third in the Stock final. Along with Chad Lian and Jordan Torgerson, Team Arctic racers took five of the top-10 positions in the Open class.

There was even greater Team Green domination in the other class finals at Willmar. Lance Efteland led a podium sweep of the Semi Pro Improved class while both Chase Nordstrom and Gary Tintes each captured two wins in their respective classes. John Koch and Ean Voigt each came close to scoring two wins, and Jolene Bute returned to win the Women’s class for the second event in a row.

“Willmar was another great showing for our racers and teams,” said Mike Kloety, Team Arctic Race Manager. “Of course we want to win all of the classes, especially the premier Pro and Semi Pro events. And we’ve accomplished that at every race this season, so another brand winning one or two illustrates the difficulty of staying out front each week. There are no easy victories and when our racers don’t win it makes everyone work harder.

“Willmar was the last lake-ice race of the season in USXC. Now that we move into the ditches and terrain we’ll see some more great battles.”

While the National snocross tour was on break for the upcoming X Games, a CSRA regional snocross in Stadacona, Quebec, proved the perfect opportunity for Team Arctic pro racers to claim some hardware, with Corey Watkinson winning Pro Open, Angela Vachino taking two Pro Women finals, and Billy Turning capturing the Pro Lite win.

The next USXC event is Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, in Oslo, Minn. The ESPN X Games is Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 in Aspen, Colo.
